CCEE continues to earn high marks on the newest rankings of graduate engineering programs by U.S. News & World Report.

In the 2024-25 rankings of engineering specialties at the graduate level, CCEE’s civil engineering and environmental engineering programs placed No. 31 and No. 22, respectively.*

NC State’s College of Engineering ranked as the 27th-best graduate engineering program in the U.S.

The U.S. News rankings of graduate programs are released annually in spring, and the rankings of both colleges and departments are updated. The rankings are one benchmark of success in academia. The 2024-2025 rankings are based on quality indicators such as student-faculty ratio, average GRE scores of incoming students, and alumni success in the job market. They also rely heavily on peer assessments, giving significant weight to each school’s academic reputation.

CCEE also did well in the U.S. News rankings of online graduate engineering programs, which were released earlier this year. CCEE’s online Master of Civil Engineering program ranked No. 3 in the country on the list of Best Online Master’s in Civil Engineering Programs.

*Construction engineering programs are not ranked as part of the list because there are fewer than 20 programs in the U.S.
