CCEE ranks among top graduate engineering education programs

CCEE’s graduate programs advanced on the annual list of America’s best graduate schools published this week by U.S. News & World Report. The department’s civil engineering program moved up four spots from last year to rank No. 26 in the nation, and the environmental engineering program jumped one spot, ranking No. 21.

The 2023 rankings are based on quality indicators such as student-faculty ratio, and alumni success in the job market. They also rely heavily on peer assessments, giving significant weight to each school’s academic reputation.

CCEE also did well in US News’ rankings of online graduate engineering programs, which were released for 2022 in January. CCEE’s online Master of Civil Engineering program was ranked No. 4 in the country on US News & World Report’s 2022 Best Online Programs list, rising seven spots from 2021.

CCEE’s Master of Civil Engineering (MCE) degree can be completed through Engineering Online. It is intended for graduate students who are interested in studies to prepare for professional careers in civil engineering and many students enroll while working full-time. The department offers a parallel degree in environmental engineering.  With 15 to 20 courses available each semester, CCEE’s distance education students can customize their degrees to support their area of professional interest. The online degree requires the completion of 10 courses, which some students complete in as little as two years, though three to four years is more typical for students with  other responsibilities.
