First ever “Day of Giving” exceeds expectations
On March 27th, 2019, NC State held its first-ever Day of Giving. This 24-hour fundraising event was designed to be fun and create community, along with a bit of competition between colleges and departments. Chancellor Randy Woodson set aside $200,000 in bonus funds for departments that met various challenges including the most gifts, the most funds raised, and the most funds raised during specific timeframes. The ‘final countdown challenge’ included an award to the group with the last donor to hit “Submit” by 11:59 pm on the Day of Giving. The College of Engineering (COE) won a few of these challenges including first place for the total number of gifts with 1,564. COE also won the ‘First Website Gift Challenge’; the ‘Most Gifts Challenge Part 1’ which included the hour between 9:00 and 10:00 pm; the ‘Most Gifts Challenge Part 2’ which included the hour between 7:00 and 8:00 pm; and the ‘Out of State Challenge’ for the most gifts received from a state other than North Carolina.
