Dr. Montoya to Receive ASCE Casagrande Award for Innovative Research

Dr. Brina Montoya, Assistant Professor of Geotechnical Engineering, was selected for the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) Casagrande Award. This award was established by the Geotechnical Engineering Division of ASCE as a memorial to the outstanding contribution of Arthur Casagrande. The award provides professional development opportunities for outstanding young practitioners, researchers, and teachers of geotechnical engineering. Dr. Montoya was selected for her “innovative research in the application of biologically induced carbonate precipitation to address geotechnical problems of critical importance.” She will receive the award in February 2016 during the Geotechnical and Structural Engineering Congress in Phoenix, AZ.
