CCEE Distinguished Professor Mo Gabr named Lifetime Member of ASCE
CCEE Distinguished Professor Mo Gabr was named a Lifetime Member of the American Society of Civil Engineers. A life member has made a lifetime commitment to ASCE and the civil engineering profession by remaining a member for the full length of their professional career.
Gabr became a member of ASCE in 1988 and an ASCE Fellow in 2000. During his 35-year membership, he has served on the editorial board of ASCE’s Journal of Geotechnical and Geoenvironmental Engineering and technical committees and attended annual conferences. He received the ASCE Edmund Friedman Professional Recognition award in 1996 and the ASCE West Virginia Young Engineer of the Year in 1993 and was inducted as a Diplomate of the ASCE Geo-Institute Academy of Geo-Professionals in 2015.
“Beyond aspects related to advocacy and certification, I believe that ASCE, particularly the Geo-Institute, aligns with my expertise and plays a vital role in the civil engineering profession,” Gabr said. “[ASCE has] provided me with a platform for extensive networking with peers and colleagues. This platform has fostered collaboration and helped me stay informed about cutting-edge developments in my field.”
Gabr said he feels “honored” to have achieved an ASCE Lifetime Membership.
“I have made this longstanding commitment because ASCE and the Geo-Institute foster a strong and inclusive sense of community, which I believe is vital for the continued wellbeing and advancement of the civil engineering profession,” Gabr said. “I feel gratitude for the opportunities and connections ASCE and the Geo-Institute have afforded me.”
