CCEE student receives Carolinas AGC scholarship
CCEE student Grace Abdoo was one of 11 students selected for a 2024 Carolinas Associated General Contractors (AGC) Foundation Scholarship. A total of $20,000 was awarded to the students, who are involved in the commercial construction industry.
Abdoo said she felt a sense of accomplishment and belonging in the construction industry after receiving the scholarship.
“Not only is this scholarship helpful in expanding my educational pathway, but it also provides comfort and support for wanting to continue my professional development in construction,” she said. “Knowing foundations want to invest in my future increases my motivation to expand and help improve the workforce.”
Abdoo, who is studying civil engineering, has experience working for a construction company expanding and remodeling wastewater treatment plants.
“My civil background has helped me flourish with the structural and geotechnical aspects of the job and helps me support the construction team I work with,” she said. “Receiving this scholarship has helped me focus on my studies rather than searching for other sources of income to help support myself in school. Once I graduate, I plan to continue my career path in construction due to the support this scholarship has given me.”
