NC State University has a 40 year history of providing distance education programs to professional engineers. Much has changed during these years in terms of delivery of courses and degree programs available. What has not changed is the quality and integrity of the engineering programs offered. There is no difference in the courses offered or the degree in terms of course and degree requirements, and no on-campus attendance is required. Students can complete a degree while working full time.

Ninety-one percent of students are employed when they enroll in online graduate engineering programs at NC State, according to the report.

CCEE’s Master of Civil Engineering (MCE) degree can be completed through Engineering Online. It is intended for graduate students who are interested in studies to prepare for professional careers in civil engineering. The department offers a parallel degree in environmental engineering.  With numerous courses available each semester, CCEE’s distance education students can customize their degrees to support their area of professional interest. The online degree requires the completion of 10 courses, which some students complete in as little as two years, though three to four years is more typical given their other responsibilities.
