Signing ceremony marks research collaboration

On March 26, 2019, the Center for Nuclear Energy Facilities and Structures (CNEFS) formally signed a research collaboration agreement with Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power (KHNP). CNEFS will assist in KHNP’s initiative to enhance the seismic resilience of nuclear structures and systems in South Korea. The KHNP delegation was led by Mr. Know Heon-Woo. CCEE professor Dr. Abhinav Gupta is the Director of CNEFS, whose mission is to perform research on innovative and rigorous solutions to meet the challenges of the nuclear energy industry, and transfer the technology to industry. CNEFS solutions are aimed at reducing uncertainty, increasing safety, and reducing the cost of operating existing plants and building new ones.

The signing ceremony was held at D.H. Hill Library on NCSU campus.

CNEFS, with support from the Office of Continuing Education, is hosting the 25th International Conference on Structural Mechanics in Reactor Technology (SMiRT 25) which will be held in Charlotte, NC in August of 2019.
